.99The second generation of the 2024 Merida Silex is an evolution of the original design, with a focus on enhanced off-road capabilities. It retains the core qualities that made the original so successful, but introduces several key improvements.
The new Silex boasts a 1.5-degree slacker head angle and bigger volume tires, making it more adept at handling challenging terrain. It also features five sets of bottle bosses, rack mounting points on the aluminum frame, and the ability to run internal routed dropper posts and dynamo systems.
To further enhance its off-road credentials, all Silex models (except the 200) come equipped with powerful hydraulic disc brakes and 180mm rotors. Calipers are mounted on the chainstay for better dissipation of braking forces, and the flat-mount standard ensures a neat and flush fit. On the carbon models, calipers sit atop CNCd aluminum Disc Cooler fins, reducing operating temperatures by up to 35%.
The revised fork design makes it possible to swap to a suspension fork without affecting the geometry, and the longer fork and shorter headtube result in a more appealing visual aesthetic.
Overall, the second generation of the Merida Silex builds upon the strengths of its predecessor and delivers a more versatile and capable gravel bike that's ready to take on any adventure.
