Similar to many other brands, Haibike are using the brand new Bosch Performance Line CX 2020 motor for next year’s models. With a particular emphasis on range, the new Haibike bikes are fitted with an integrated 625 Wh battery which can be supplemented with an optional external 500 Wh, offering a massive total 1,125 Wh capacity. This so-called “Range Extender” will be an option for all full-suspension eMTBs in all sizes. Another plus for commuters and night riders is the optional Skybeamer headlight, which throws out 5,000 lumens, paired with the neatly integrated Twin TailLights – these are details that we’ve previously seen on the FLYON models.

Unlike the SDURO FullNine or FullSeven, the XDURO AllMtn rolls on mixed wheel sizes, that are intended to combine the best of both worlds. On the one hand, maximum traction at the rear with 27.5” Maxxis Minion DHR II 2.8” tires and on the other, the excellent rollover characteristics of 29” wheels at the front. Both the AllMtn 3.0 and 3.5 are delivered with the Bosch Purion display and a 625 Wh battery. The 12-speed drivetrain offers maximum gear range while the four-pot brakes mean you’ll always stay in control on the way down into the valley. Both models have 160 mm travel at the front and rear.

The entry-level bike in the Haibike XDURO AllMtn range is the AllMtn 3.0 at € 4,999. You’ll get Magura MT5 brakes, SRAM SX drivetrain and suspension from RockShox in the form of a Yari RC fork and Deluxe Select Plus shock. For € 500 more, the AllMtn 3.5 rolls on quality DT Swiss H1900 wheels. Magura still provides the brakes, though MT7s are fitted instead and shifting is taken care of by the new Shimano SLX 1×12 drivetrain. The suspension upgrades the fork to a RockShox PIKE Select though the shock remains the same. The significant upgrade in componentry means we would definitely invest € 500 more to get the XDURO AllMtn 3.5.

Both the Haibike SDURO FullNine and FullSeven LT differ from the XDURO AllMtn only in the tires – instead of the aggressive Maxxis Minion DHR II and DHF combination, the SDURO models are fitted with Schwalbe Nobby Nic tires. However, the SDURO FullNine has a shorter 140 mm travel fork and the same amount of rear travel to accommodate the larger 29” wheels. In comparison, the Haibike FullSeven LT might have smaller wheels but has a 160 mm travel fork and 150 mm travel at the rear. With the SDURO Bosch models, Haibike is clearly targeting more relaxed and comfortable rides on forest roads and longer tours on easy trails, rather than demanding Alpine adventures with hairy descents. Both the entry-level price of € 4,999 as well as the components – apart from the tires – are the same as the XDURO AllMtn. As the SDURO range is targeted more towards riding longer distances rather than climbing every peak, we would tend towards the entry-level model and use the money you save to invest in the Skybeamer lights or optional 500 Wh external battery.

Lots of people are keenly awaiting their Haibike FLYON and according to internal sources, they could still be waiting a little while. To make the wait a bit more bearable and ramp up the anticipation even more, we want to discuss one detail that got a bit lost when the FLYON was first announced. We’re talking about the eConnect app and the built-in connectivity of the FLYON range. By means of a SIM card and GPS integrated into the bike, it can be protected from potential thieves while newly discovered trails and routes on your rides can be tracked and stored directly in the eConnect app. However, the most important feature is undoubtedly the emergency function that can detect crashes and accidents and will send a text message to up to two emergency contacts in the case of an incident.
