The 2021 Cannondale Topstone 4 is proof that you can have a fun bike that’s easy to ride, lightweight, and extremely comfortable in an affordable package. With a frame in a beautiful Alpine colour and a carbon fork to get you better performance and added comfort, the Topstone 4 is the go-to option when you’re trying to get a versatile bike that does it all, on and off the road.
Detailed explanation
Like the other bikes in the 2021 Topstone range, with the Topstone 4, you get a beautiful SmartForm C2 aluminium frame with plenty of mounting points for gear and bottle cages all around. There are also internal cable routing options to get you an even cleaner look. At the front is an all-carbon fibre fork with a 55mm OutFront offset and a thru-axle, which gets you a snappy bike when you need it, but keeps things stable at higher speeds and over rougher terrain.
Shifting is done using microSHIFT’s Advent X components that cover the shifter, rear derailleur and the 11-48T cassette. The crankset is a Prowheel model with a 40T chainring, which means you’re looking at a 1x10 drivetrain – simplicity at its finest. The brakes are Promax’s excellent Render X mechanical disk brakes with 160mm rotors.
To make the Topstone 4 even more comfortable at high speeds, Cannondale has included a road wheelset with WTB’s Riddler Comp tyres in a 700x37c configuration. These work great over just about any type of terrain and make the Topstone a true pleasure to ride at long distances. Factor in the comfortable seat and thick bar tape, and this is a bike that you’ll enjoy every minute of.
